About
The very differences which humanity should embrace are disappearing at a rapid rate. Why travel anywhere if everything is the same? My work celebrates the places where, despite modernization, the vibrant simple life continues as it has for generations. The sun-kissed smile of a fishmonger negotiating the terms of his next sale on the docks; a lone man repairing his weathered boat using techniques his grandfather taught him; a son watching his mother make Argan oil with a slate and her bare hands. These are the quintessential moments of my travels, the vocations that have existed for thousands of years that are being threatened with extinction.
The American Regionalist painters have fascinated me since I was a child. Benton, Curry, Marsh, Soyer — their works show a simpler America that has been long forgotten. The world is changing and ancient traditions are disappearing rapidly. In the meantime, I aspire to paint as much of it as possible.
All works are available in print form. Prices vary by size and individual requests. Please email jill.alexander@gmail.com with any inquiries and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

To honor this occasion, most of the art chosen for this exhibit is focused on women’s rights, past and present. This exhibit celebrates women and portrays gender equality as well as gender stereotypes, and brings awareness to oppression and objectification of women which still exists today.
Jill's art will appear at the John Peto Museum as a part of the Trompe-l'oeil meets Realism Show, Reception September 20th 6-8 pm at the Peto Museum in Island Heights. Her art will be displayed at the Peto Museum from September 20th until December 15th 2019.
